My computer was in danger, so I saved it
October 6, 2009 2:37 am TechnologyI had just graduated high school and was making my way to college to start a new life on my own. As a graduation present, my dad and mom bought me a new computer to take with me to college for school work. During the school year, that computer was my life. I took it to class and worked on assignments in the library, I even stayed on it till all hours of the night playing games on it. Without that computer, I was not sure how I would get everything done.
My dad told me to make sure and backup the files on the computer so that I didn’t lose anything. He referred me to some backup software and an online backup site that I could use to backup everything I had on the computer. I didn’t really pay much attention to him, because I didn’t really even know what backup software was, and really didn’t care. But one day after finishing a particularly long paper for a final, I turned on a game to play, and the whole computer crashed. Not only did I lose the paper, by I failed the class as a result.
Soon after, I found out what online backup and backup software did and just wanted to kick myself. From then on, I would backup every file on my computer no matter how small or insignificant that it was. Backup would have saved me money and time if I had just listened to my dad.
