Getting the Necessary Equipment for Snowboarding

My son really wants to start snowboarding, so we need to get him the necessary equipment. Of course, he claims that Von Zipper goggles are necessary, but I am not sure we are willing to spring for these. He might have to save up for these on his own. I have to look into the options for goggles and see what a reasonable price is, and then if these are a lot more he can make up the difference with his own money or choose something that is a bit less expensive. He says these are what all of the cool kids are wearing, of course.
