Speed Reading Tips

5:56 am Reference

Here are a couple speed reading tips that you can put to use today to double your reading speed by tomorrow.

1. Read the first and last sentences. Depending on the nature of what you’re reading, the most important information may be in the first and last sentences of each paragraph. Often just skimming through and reading these will be enough to understand.

2. Force yourself to read faster. Simply spending an hour or two reading a novel as fast as you can – without trying to understand – can boost your “normal” reading speed. Run your fingers down the page quickly and follow with your eyes, trying to read as much as possible. Later, when you read at a “normal” speed that allows for comprehension, you’ll notice that it is faster than you used to read.
