Caring For A Japanese Koi Pond

2:24 am Home

Fortunately, Japanese Koi are very hearty fish and can generally be cared for pretty easily. Sure, it will require regular attention on your part but properly maintaining a Japanese koi pond really isn’t all that hard.

You will need to feed your fish two times per day in five-minute spans of time. Feed your koi as much as they would like to eat within the five-minute period and then stop feeding.

As with all fish, overfeeding is never good and can cause a good deal of damage.

After that, if your Japanese koi pond has a strong pump and a decent filtration system that removes the majority of contaminants, you’ll be in real good shape.

If, however, you find that one of your koi seems ill, separate that fish at once and begin treatment. With proper treatment, it’s likely your koi will return to health and can be returned to the pond.
